During the session

Spotter and TV Director

A live view of the session from the game, and a director that switches cameras on its own when you are spectating.

The Spotter during a live practice session.

Spotter

Everything the session is doing, in one window. Pop it out to its own window and put it on a second screen.

  • A live timing table: position, class, driver and team, laps, best, gap, class gap, sectors, three-lap average, top speed, stint and tyre
  • Filters for class, plus Highlights and History
  • A track map with every car on it
  • Columns chosen separately for Practice, Qualifying and Race, and dragged into order
The live timing table. Session time, class filter and session type are along the top.
Pick and order the columns for each session type. Practice, Qualify and Race each keep their own layout.

TV Director

For spectating, not for driving. Turn it on and it switches the game’s camera by itself, in single player and multiplayer, through the game’s own API. It shows the shot it chose and why, the cars ahead and behind, and what is coming up next.

Three styles set the pacing:

StyleWhat it doesCuts
Dynamic ProBalances overtakes, close battles, incidents and pit stopsEvery 8 to 12 s
Cinematic AceLonger, calmer shots on trackside and chase camerasEvery 15 to 20 s
Race LeaderFollows the overall and class leaders, and cuts away for major incidentsEvery 10 to 15 s

Choose what counts as worth a cut: close racing, overtakes, contacts and crashes, spins, track-limit warnings, pit entries and exits, purple and personal-best laps, blue-flag traffic and recovery drives. Set how eager or patient it is, and how long each kind of shot is held. A priority cut breaks away for a crash or caution only after a shot has run for a few seconds, and never interrupts a shot you are holding yourself.

The director on: the shot it chose and why, what is next, and the team threat feed.
Three presets, with filler shot hold, action sensitivity and priority cuts.
Switch each kind of event on or off.

Team Spotter

Follow one team car and let the director cut away only when it matters: jump to yellow flags and incidents and return to the team car, cut for a spin near it, and watch for hazards just behind it. The director also runs the formation lap and the race start.

Hazard windows, and how strictly to stay on the team car.

Good to know

  • There are no audio callouts. The Spotter is visual.
  • With the director switched off, it does nothing. It does not suggest shots.
  • For trackside shots it uses the game's trackside cycle camera. It cannot choose a particular trackside group.
  • Le Mans Ultimate has to be running.
